The Central Union Church of Christ follows the membership standard and design of the church that Jesus built outlined in the New Testament. Membership is a privilege provided by Christ in Matthew 16:18 when He declared He would “build His church.” The Bible states through a variety of scriptural examples that membership in the local churches were through the spiritual act and expression of baptism. We stand with God’s blessing and way of being part of His family and our church family.
At Central Union, we follow the New Testament command and example of membership. When an individual obeys the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he or she becomes a member
of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13). God himself adds you to the body of the saved, and that body is called the church (Eph. 1:22-23; Acts 2:47). Not only do you become part of the Lord’s church universally, which is the body of the Christ, but also to the Central Union Church of Christ in a local sense.
Your decision to follow Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. To have a relationship and start your spiritual journey with God, one must be baptized. Jesus says that both belief and baptism are required to be saved (Mark 16:15-16). It is through baptism that we formally make our commitment to permanently turn from sin and surrender our lives to God. The Bible commands us to be baptized in water like Jesus himself did as a public declaration of our decision to turn away from sin and follow Him.
